You can correct names on your WAEC results or certificates if they were mistakenly written. However, as of 2017, WAEC has stopped allowing corrections of dates of birth due to increasing cases of age falsification.

If your WAEC results have been released and certificates issued, you can no longer change your date of birth, only your name. However, candidates whose results are yet to be released can request corrections for both names and date of birth by providing the required documents and following the guidelines provided.

Candidates must provide the following documents for corrections at any WAEC state or zonal office:

• Attestation Letter from your school confirming your enrollment.
• Correction Letter outlining the errors in the WAEC result or certificate.
• Original Birth Certificate.
• WAEC Result/Certificate with the error.
• Sworn Affidavit for the correction of name or date of birth.
• School Register for graduates.
• Payment of N10,000 for name or date of birth correction, or N15,000 for both corrections.

After gathering the required documents, visit any WAEC Zonal or State Office, preferably where you took the exam, to submit them and make the payment. Provide your contact details for follow-up.

You’ll receive a receipt confirming your payment. Expect a processing time of 3-6 months. Avoid dealing with unauthorized individuals and only submit requests directly at WAEC offices.
