WAEC Areas Of Concentration for Christian Religious Studies 2025/2026
The WAEC Areas Of Concentration for Christian Religious Studies 2025/2026 (CRS) is designed for Christian art students or general art students who have engaged with the subject throughout their three years of senior secondary school. The examination may be taken alongside Islamic Religious Studies and/or West African Traditional Religion, depending on the candidates’ choices.
By the end of the course, candidates are expected to possess a comprehensive understanding of the religious, cultural, historical, and social contexts of the biblical materials studied. They should be able to analyze the moral lessons presented in selected biblical passages and assess their relevance to contemporary social, political, religious, and cultural life.
Additionally, candidates should recognize the challenges of applying biblical teachings to foster peaceful coexistence and national development, while also demonstrating preparedness for higher education through critical thinking and independent work.
The examination comprises two papers taken in one sitting. Paper 1 consists of 50 multiple-choice questions to be completed in one hour, accounting for 40 marks. Paper 2 consists of nine essay-type questions from which candidates must answer four, with a total of 60 marks. The questions are divided into three sections:
Section A covers themes from the Old Testament, Section B focuses on the Synoptic Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles, and Section C deals with selected Epistles. Candidates must choose at least one question from each section, with the fourth question selected from either Section A or B.
